cj95
Tried to take a screenshot, but I screwed it up somehow.Anyways, in the DESERTAMBUSH scenerio, I noticed that about 90% of the Ural supply trucks were driving along BACKWARDS....There were a few guys in forwards gear, but for the most part iut was all reverse all the time.I tried a few other scenarios with no problems, so Im wondering what kind of mix up this could be.Anyhow...overall enjoying the hell out of SB.Kudos guys.
Toyguy
Only thing that comes immediately to mind is a retreat route?
DrDevice
Since it's a stock mission, I doubt that the mission changed at all from previous versions. i.e. it worked prior to 2.64. This "reverse on march route" behavior was something I've observed too. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to pin it down and report it properly.
Moderators Volcano Posted January 16, 2012 Moderators Share Posted January 16, 2012 Well, someone probably gave the wrong route as mentioned. "Retreat" might have them reverse along the route. I know more than once I have intended to give a route and accidentally selected "retreat", then wondered why all my vehicles were driving in reverse.
cj95
Checked out the routes in the editor, and they all say "march"....not retreat. Can anyone verify this? Its a standard scenario, and I have not modded it at all.(not really a big deal, but just curious).
Moderators Volcano Posted January 17, 2012 Moderators Share Posted January 17, 2012 Where is the scenario? If they are not on Retreat, then the next step is to check their speed setting and make sure they are not set to Reverse.
DrDevice
V - the point here is that the scenario is an SB one. Included with the sim. That worked fine before 2.64. And now...units drive in reverse instead of forward.Checking the speed shouldn't matter...unless someone went in and modified the Desert Ambush scenario file.I am more and more sure that there is some sort of driving error.
cj95
Actually on closer examination I have found a few routes marked 'retreat'.Im not sure if this is universal, bu ti dont remember the scenario acting this way beforehand.Again not a huge issue. Not trying to create a fuss.

Now that I know what it is, yes, I opened it and there are Retreat routes there (I see some in the south east of the map at least, which seem to be the route that all the trucks take). This is not a bug; retreat routes behave a certain way depending on how close the units on the retreat route perceives the enemy to be and whether or not it perceives to be under threat from direct fire. If they perceive the enemy to have LOS to them and can shoot at them, or in close proximity, then they will move down a retreat route in reverse (they will embark in Reverse speed). However, if the above is not true, then units will embark on a retreat route with a speed of Top Speed. SB determines this automatically and nothing has changed here AFAIK. But the reason why it seemed like this did not happen before is because a certain play through might have had the enemy in such a position as to cause the retreating vehicles to reverse, which the situation might be different in other play troughs. Now the issue always has been: if it is a truck with no armor then it shouldn't be driving in reverse as it has no armor to put forward to the enemy, but it is a bit tricky to do anything about that and so they all behave the same way for the time being.
