I'm curious about the process that lead to the picking of the Skoda Favorit.. why not a Ford Escort (for example)?

Because the Skoda Favorit had a lifespan of about 20 minutes, about what they'll have in SB? :biggrin:

I'm sure there will be a nice mix of civvie vehicles added over time.

So from reading the screenshot "titles", I gather that while there is no scope yet for multi side support (its still basically Blue Vs Red) there is now at least some limited "neutral" objects?

I gather these can be used for say NGO's or locals caught up in the fighting (quite apart from your possible "spying" employment)?

I'm sure there will be lots of creative uses for them.

Anyway, these should be seen as an intermediary step. Some of our customers wanted to have "non-targets, pronto" for gunnery training to enforce proper IDing procedures instead of firing on any hotspot that moves. So, we added civilian cars and, as a workaround, defined them in behavior and capabilities like the ambulance vehicles, except that they can't heal and that it's an option to enable human drivers.

This is a workaround however, not the desired end state.

Why not?

It could have been the Ford Escort. I wanted to start with large volume models that are at least 10 years old, and left it to the artists to come up with something. We once had a Fiat Punto too but that was lost in a harddisk crash before a backup was made. Eventually more vehicle will come, maybe even an Escort.

Well, its not that they can't get done rather easily it is that currently a new instance of the vehicle must be made to have a new color. This is something that will have to be changed within the engine itself in the future.

Wondering If it there will be a way to place static cars. Will add some more life to the scenarios If some cars appear as parked cars in front of houses or other buildings.

Car = Blind, Computer controlled, Stay tactic, Engine damage. Voila, static vehicle (of course they will show up on map but no one said they were perfect at the moment).

Also, you can't just destroy them to make them static as they will all be on fire if you do that.

Sounds like we're going to have a lot of choice RE: Civvy cars.

Maybe the menu should be:

Add New Unit > Random Car.

Instead of:

Ford

VW

Skoda

Lada

Mercedes

BMW

ETC

ETC

ETC

See what I mean?

Just wondering with all these new and exciting new vehicles will there be some kind of version of the Marder that actually fires at the ememy or will it remain sitting on its arse with load a saved plan?

And yet we are supposed to be getting all excited about more uncrewable vehicles?

I know im going to get slammed for being negative but the ? is valid.

Why are we supposed to get excited about more uncrewabled vehicles when the existing uncrewable vehicles still dont work properly and havent for several years?

To be honest I dont think thats a unreasonable question.
