Where is the Leopard 2A6?

Hi everyone,

being a trained Leopard 2A6 gunner in the German Army, I recently bought Steel Beasts Pro PE 4.397 for private use and enjoyment.

But where can I find the Leo 2A6? I thought it would be playable in SB or am I somehow mistaken?

All I can find are tutorials and missions/scenarios for the 2A4, 2A5, 2E and Strv 122. I somehow miss "my" beloved version.

Thanks for the help and greetings from Germany,

Rob

1. Open any scenario you want to play with the Leopard 2A6 in the Mission Editor.

2. Find the units you want to turn into Leopard 2A6s and right click on them.

3. Hover over "Set unit type"

4. Select whatever variant of the Leopard 2A6 you want (base or 2A6MA2)

5. Go to "File" and "Save As" and save a new version of the scenario.

6. Play and enjoy.

Note: as with any scenario modification, this will change the intended experience from what the scenario designer originally intended.

You may be referring to tutorials; as the fire control system of 2A5 and 2A6 are largely identical, we created no specific tutorials. Same with the gunnery range. In Instant Action, the engagement distances are short enough and the choice of targets that the specific advantages of the 2A6 have no tactical relevance.

As a result, the false impression could arise that the 2A6 isn't in Steel Beasts at all. It is, but you either need to modify scenarios, or create new ones with this vehicle as the playable platform.

Thank you very much to both of you! I tested this method and I'm happy to now be able to play with "my" Leopard version.

The only thing I am missing is a separate button for first and last return laser echo.

Ssnake or someone else will tell you for sure, but I think this is programmable in the controls menu?

You need to look for „Alt. Range“ if you’re using the english version and for „Alt. Entfernung“ if you’re using it in German.

There is another option for first/last return but that is for the M1 Abrams series of tanks.

Yes. With Alt+C you bring up the Controls dialog at any time. Then filter for "LRF", or "lase" and you should very soon find the command. By default there is no keybinding, I think, but you can set one.

Dont change anything while playing online (Multiplayer) as Antivirus flags SB as a Trojan and will delete the SB.exe file
Offline is fine

(It is because SB is using the network connection and if you change a setting (& save) Antivirus thinks an external source is making changes)

You guys are amazing and helpful, thank you very much!

Thanks to you I have now replicated my Leo 2A6 workplace as closely as possible using a Thunderstick GRS Flight Yoke with separate buttons for first and last return LRF and dynamic lead. You can't get any more authentic. Panzer Hurra from Germany!
