Higgs
Recently I've repeatedly run into a annoying issue with my joystick. For some reason the calibration is off. The X-Axis isn't properly calibrated. This happens about 50% of the times I open Steel Beasts and I have not noticed it in any other game. I reccalibrated my joystick in the Windows settings but this hasn't solved the issue. Picture above shows the issue in the control settings. The X-Axios should be centered. It doesn't look like much but it is incredibly annoying to use since the turret controls are far more sensitiv in one direction than into the other one. Which makes aiming and specifically tracking a target next to impossible. Is there a way to calibrate the joystick inside Steel Beasts? So far I have always needed to restart the game.
Members Ssnake
Shift+J and Alt+J; one inverts the Y axis, the other re-centers the joystick signal. Of course, you still lose sensitivity, but it might still be less painful. The question is, of course, why there would be a non-zero signal in the first place.
Abraxas
Hi Valentin, Vielleicht solltest Du erst "Joystick Erkennung" drücken, Joystick auswählen und dann erst "Achsen konfigurieren". Hi Higgs, Maybe you should first press "Joystick detection", choose joystick and then "Configure Axes". I will test it thank you. I did not finde that option but I musst have missed it so far. As to why that keeps happening, I don’t know. I recently noticed it when traversing left was significantly slower than traversing right even when moving the joystick to its maximum angle. I haven’t found the reaon yet and I am uncertain how long this has been happening without me noticing. I haven’t seen it in any other game or application yet but I will let you know if I find the reason.

Edited October 23 by Higgs
Abraxas
Maybe it depends on 4.397? I had a similar problem after the update: My joystick (T16000M) stopped working. It was listed twice in the operation! Nothing changed after choosing the first T16000M listed. I left SB. After restarting the correct joystick was only once and then it worked.
Splash
Here's something to look at: I had a related mystery a couple of years ago. I don't know your setup, but is it possible there is an input (maybe a button, maybe a microstick) that also sends an X-axis signal to the sim? I had a microstick mapped as a mouse emulator, but it was slightly off-center. It didn't show up when calibrating the main joystick outside of the sim, but at runtime the false signal caused a tiny horizontal drift. Good luck with your search.
Members Ssnake
If you disconnect the stick, and the signal's still there, that'd be a valuable clue.
