Administrators Sean Posted August 16 Administrators Share Posted August 16 Its reading which versions of the 4 components are installed. 3/4 of them don't change often, at this point. If it finds a older version of Pro PE, it will offer to run the uninstaller for that component, and then installs the new one. If what is already installed is already up to date, it states that.

Hola! So we don't need to manually uninstall previous stuff. I notice at release notes "6. Install the Map Transfer Tools (V59)" Still is the V55 right? At least at the download page (text + download link) Maybe the "SBProPEBundleInstaller_4397" downloads the V59... Didn't try nothing yet until be sure 😅 Thanks!
Administrators Sean Posted August 16 Administrators Share Posted August 16 Haven't seen a v59, so hopefully a typo.

From the downloads page. Seems straight forward. "The bundle installer linked below will download and install everything needed to get up and running with Steel Beasts Pro PE. By default, it will save all the installer files for use later, or in case a download fails or is corrupted. The individual installer files are still provided below if desired." But in running the installer, I just went by what was on the page + what came up on install message. Wouldn't that lead you to uninstall?
Administrators Sean Posted August 17 Administrators Share Posted August 17 It says its already up to date - 4.397, and its not going to uninstall what is already up to date. In order to REinstall, you would need to take some action to remove the already up to date version from programs and features, then rerun the bundle installer.
thewood
It said exactly the same thing with 4.379 when I ran the 4.397 installer.
Administrators Sean Posted August 17 Administrators Share Posted August 17 The only way that should happen is if it were already installed, or you accidentally ran the installer for 4.379. Given the way that the version numbers unfortunately worked out, it would be easy to do.
Captain_Colossus
i see some odd artifacts in the sky box- it looks like pinpoint flashes of lights going off - it is not artillery, it certainly does not look like any kind of feature. i will continue to observe

thewood
I only have one installer in my downloads...4.397. I got that message on the first run of that installer. In fact, I canceled it and went and made sure of the version number by starting SB and it was 4.379. I then ran the installer for 4.397 and got that. You guys can do what you want with the info. But I know what I did and what the message said.
Members Ssnake
In any case, manually uninstalling SB Pro PE (and nothing else) should solve that particular problem.
BadgerDog
Returning to the fold! SB Pro PE 4.397 Installed... Regards, Doug
thewood
Note SB version number and Installer version number. Just to confirm that the install does recommend uninstalling older version. Yes, the installer is 4.397. Yes the SB version is 4.379. No mixing up of versions. No accidently installing over new version. This is my back up laptop and it did exactly the same thing on my primary above. I did uninstall and had it reinstall the game. My only point is just update the download page on patching vs reinstalling. I don't think its asking too much to help out a few inexperienced players.
Mirzayev
I went to page 3 of the release notes, did what it said, and the installation went flawlessly, as always.

I thought that much was undisputed. But if it helps to put your mind at ease: Yes. The 4.397 Bundle Installer detects an older version of SB Pro PE (4.379) and asks for confirmation to proceed and uninstall it. It's supposed to do that.

We're at a point where the quality assurance team is reasonably optimisting about a release next week, possibly Thursday. In the meantime, here's the Release Notes. Members Ssnake
It does, I just tested it. If you were using the link on the first post of this thread. In any case, the 4.397 release notes are part of the Steel Beasts installation (in the documents folder).

Members Ssnake
I see where it's coming from, but top level sarcasm isn't going to solve anything here. A more constructive approach would be a more in-depth description of what you did, how you did it, and in what way reality deviated from your expectation. Which browser did you use (did you try something else)? Did you get error messages (what, exactly, did they say)?

Are you trying to download from a country where they can't sell it? 2. Are you running a VPN that tell others that you are in a country where they can't sell it? 3. Any special anti virus / security software running? etc.
