So, we've been working on a final patch for version 4.3, I think that's not a very well kept secret. We're at a point where the quality assurance team is reasonably optimisting about a release next week, possibly Thursday.

In the meantime, here's the Release Notes.

Good show, always good to have more updates and great work squashing all those bugs!

I am sad to see the Chally's smoke going, even the TES standard chally pictured below has exhaust smoke, I do love blinding my allies with my exhaust smoke. 👀

So, bug 12494 needed killing twice, and we could also fix the old issue that in winter scenarios some trees showed foliage in thermal view.

V4.397 will be it.

Which is unfortunate as it invites confusion (4.379-4.397...). Well, it is what it is.

Unless the quality assurance team finds a show-stopper at the last second, yes.

I'm guessing it will be Thursday US time, in line with earlier releases.

BG ANZAC has been warned out that we'll use either 4.379 or 4.397 depending on when it actually turns up.

Is only the full installer available?  No patch/upgrade?

Do we have to uninstall/reinstall if its the full installer only, including maps?

Yes, it is available as a stand-alone full installer for SB Pro PE v 4.397 (installs  SB only), and as a Bundle Installer which, additionally to installing v4.397 would also  automatically update other components of the package, if required.  There no 'patch' installer.

And you don't need to reinstall maps delivered with Maps Installer.

P.S.
I'd recommend to use Bundle Installer, since it downloads and updates only what needs to be updated.

Might be a good idea to make that part of the installer description on the site.

edit:  Just ran the installer.  It recommends uninstalling the previous version.  So my question again is it going to download the entire game again?  It would seem that if I uninstall, its going to download everything again.

The thermal image of Leopard 2 has changed again. And the imaging performance of the second generation thermal camera of the m1a2 looks like that of the first generation thermal camera.

The thermal image of the t72b3 has less noise than the previous version.

It will download and install only new components- SB Pro PE v4.397  and SB Pro Map Package Transfer Manager v55. It will not uninstall, download and re-install 16GB of maps if you have them already.

So why does it say to uninstall the previous version?  I'm not trying to be pedantic, but it seems like I typically have to go through installing 2-3 times with every update because something is slightly off.

uninstalling steel beasts does not uninstall folders such as map packages (scenario folders, mod folders and so on- which are manually deleted by the user in order to remove them)

and so i understand it to mean that the older version should be uninstalled and the newer version installed without necessarily the need to reinstall map packages again if the user has retained them

from previous versions

Just trying to clean up the ambiguity of it.  I can see what its trying to do.  I consider myself average, at best.  That means a significant number of people sit below that PC capability.

I do want to point out that on 4.379, I went the bundle installer route and tried to install over the previous version.  I sat in front of the PC for over 30 minutes just hitting "yes" on replacement questions.

The actual install, not the maps and scenarios but the actual software itself. If you don't uninstall the previous install what may happen is that the installer for the new version may miss things. If that happens then some oddities may become apparent when using the software.

Uninstall Steel Beasts, but not the map packages. These are the bulk of the program data, and they remain unchanged. That was the very reason why we moved them into a separate installer - so the download sizes would be reduced by about 80...90%.
