Full Moon, Fuller House

Situation:

After the most recent victory over East German forces, the first West German battalions begin to enter Czechloslavakia, meeting little resistance.

This streak of easy victories was promptly broken 2 days ago at Stazów, where Berta company was caught offguard and nearly destroyed by a prepared joint Soviet-Slovak defense.

Cäsar and Dora companies have been called on to redeem the failure of Berta company, capturing and holding Stazów and the smaller town of Leczna to the north.

Still believeing that the operation will go over with no hiccups, Division command has somewhat overextended themselves, and now a job that would ordinarily be left to two companies has been stretched to a job for one.

Fret not, however, as there is the reminants of Berta company standing by on call should you require assistance.

Weather & Recon:

"Clear skies and a full moon right now over Stazów tonight, however there is some light rain coming over from Austria at around 7:30 pm."

Berta reports the presence of at least 1 company of Soviet T62s, as well as a company of Motostrelki infantry.

Due to the limited existence of survivors, we don't have the complete picture, but know there are at least 2 other companies of unknown enemies in the AO.

Assets:

3 Platoons of Leo 1A5
2 Platoons of Mech in Marders
2 Platoons of Luchs scout cars to be used in advance of attack
1 Battery of mortars
2 Batteries of offmap arty
2 Medics
2 ARVs
4 Supply trucks

Mission:
Capture and hold Leczna and Stazów, expect a counterattack.

Extra notes:
Urban Fighting - Neither side should enter the inside of Leczna or Stazów, we don't want to be here all week.
Leo 1A2 - Regrettably, there is no adequate analog for a night vision system, so the 1A5s have been left their thermals. To try to balance, all Leo 1A2s should unfocus their thermals as much as possible. (NUMPAD DIVIDE)
Reinforcements - Attached to trigger 1, will spawn back at the original start point.

Scenario (To verify that everything works at your end and Map Recce):

The mission is to capture the two villages but not enter them.  Interesting mission/concept.

MOUT/FIBUA in SB is difficult and not terribly realistic.

More over setting an entire village alight with direct and indirect fire slows the server down to a crawl.

Better to play to the strengths rather than the weaknesses of the software.

I broadly agree but intelligent use of "Retreat if ..." and "Surrender if ..." can reflect a force slowly withdrawing and surrendering, without playing "wack a mole" and chasing individuals through the rubble.

"Leo 1A2 - Leopard 1A5s have had their LRF removed to simulate a 1A2."

The Leo1A2 has an optical rangefinder like the Leo AS1 but no therminal imaging device (TIS). If a rangefinder is missing, how should the distance be measured?! Typo?

Originally my intention was to have players use the map and some guestimating, but I've since decided to add back in the rangefinder and just say "screw it, 1A5s in 1976 is close enough." The briefing and manning list still needs to be updated.

OK! But why you don't use the Leo AS1 as Leo1A3. The former 10th PzDiv (GE) had this type. But it's your decision.

Cause an AS1 would wind up totally blind in the dark, as it has no thermals or night vision system last I checked.

Ok, I didn't realize that it was more server related than a realism thing.  Makes sense now.
