  1. Kanium Sunday 30th of January "Operation Ragnarok - Phase II", by Nike-Ajax This is a BIG scenario, which it is why it will be run in two phases. Do NOT hold yourself back, even if you did not join in Phase I, then there is still plenty of fun. No skill or experience requirements needed. So no need to have played first Phase if you play this. Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 World Clock 1900 GMT (Same time as always in Europe - adjusted for Daylight Savings Time: click the time below for your local time) World clock 1900 GMT IMPORTANT NOTICE: This SB session may be recorded with video and sound and uploaded, including to a public youtube or Twitch channel. AS always, then we are running the session with the latest version of Steelbeasts. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance 😁 THIS is the mappack you will be using for this Sunday, if you do not have it already: Contact myself or @Major duck beforehand, if you have trouble installing it. Strategic map: Tactical Maps: ________________ Operation Ragnarok Phase II 7´th of June 2023 SB Mission by Nike-Ajax Scenario notes: 1) For a number of reasons, then there are NO smoke missions on either side for server stability. Also for server stability, all destroyed callsigns will be removed after 60 sec. For same reason there is no clouds. 2) This is a TWO part scenario, so BLUEFOR/Aesir will ONLY advance to Phase Line Aesir in the first session. In the second BLUEFOR will advance to, and make a bridge crossing of the river Boevra, and then fight to seize the ENY HQ. 3) This will simulate a BGD BG attack. For server stability then it is simulated that BGD CO will coordinate the attack in the other AO to match the progress of BLUEFOR in the chosen AO, hence the BLUEFOR CO only has to worry about staying within his boundaries. And winning. 4) This is meant and built to be run by a Human OPFOR 0. Background The battle has begun: All across the worlds the fighting rages. The Gods are barely holding on and many have fallen. Voelven´s prophecy are coming close to the truth: 51. O'er the sea from the east | there sails a ship With the people of Muspell, | at the helm stands Loki; After the wolf | do wild men follow, And with them the brother | of Byleist goes. 52. Surt fares from the south | with the scourge of branches, The sun of the battle-gods | shone from his sword; The crags are sundered, | the giant-women sink, The dead throng Hel-way, | and heaven is cloven. 53. Now comes to Hlin | yet another hurt, When Othin fares | to fight with the wolf, And Beli's fair slayer | seeks out Surt, For there must fall | the joy of Frigg. 54. Then comes Sigfather's | mighty son, Vithar, to fight | with the foaming wolf; In the giant's son | does he thrust his sword Full to the heart: | his father is avenged. 55. Hither there comes | the son of Hlothyn, The bright snake gapes | to heaven above; . . . . . . . . . . Against the serpent | goes Othin's son. But not all is lost. In middleearth, the forces of good are holding their own despite heavy losses, fighting wars they think is of their own making. Maybe Ragnarök can be stopped or delayed after all ? I. Situation Time: 0300 Local Time Weather: Clear skies with no chance of rain, 23 degrees Centigrade, wind speed 5 m/s from NE and LOS 3500 Meters General We have attacked through the initial enemy forces in Jotunheimen, and fought our way up to near the the river Boevra to our north. We had to stop to rearm and reorganize due to heavy losses, particularly in the western AO, where their Tank forces was hit harder than yours. From this position we will continue the attack, securing and then crossing the river, to enable us to carry our offensive further north. The initial battle was successful, but hard fought. And we expect this to no easier. Our strategic objective is to ATTACK the ENY to the Northeast with a BGD BG, making an opposed river crossing aimed at and after the crossing, destroying the ENY HQ. The Enemy have had their initial strong defenses broken and breached by our forces, but we know that they have a secondary obstacle area north of the river built up for months if not years. Which in line with our last operation, will be used to strengthen their defenses. And will likely hide behind them and try to inflict as many casualties as they can from there (Reference Map trace). Once you have reached Phase line Baldur, you will halt and CONSOLIDATE and then remain and DEFEND in place. Thus setting the parameters for the break out operation to advance and expand further North and East and force the Enemy into a more mobile type of warfare which suits us better. Due to our heavy losses, then what remained of the MECHINF and Recon forces that was used in the previous operation have been pulled back for rearmament, reconsolidation and repair. You have instead been allocated a full new MECHINF COY as well as a PLT of RECON. The TNK PLTs have been repaired, rearmed and casualties replaced. But as outlined, then the other BG to your West was hit hard, so we do not have any more reinforcements beyond that. We therefore do not have as many forces as we wanted. But not only are our forces limited, due to the state of lack of worship of the old Gods on Middleearth. But the attack which you took part in was only one of many. And there are more to come. So you will have to make do with what you have. Do NOT push past boundaries EAST or WEST or risk being attacked and destroyed from your flanks, because as in your previous operation other forces will attack coordinated by BGD CMD alongside your attack. Terrain: Mixture of closed and open, with channeling and blocking terrain features particularly to the South and Southwest, opening up as you push further North. Also there are a number of natural obstacles in the form of rivers, lakes and other watercourses. Biggest terrain feature is the River Boevra and the hills to the north of it which commands the river. Second biggest is the tributary river of the Boevra which runs North to south and divides the NE part of your AO Obstacles: The Enemy expected us to come and have made numerous obstacles and defenses. Although we broken through their first defensive line, then we expect a secondary - and from Intel last - one to the north of the river. This includes Minefields, from Intel both real and decoy, Abatis in many of the wooded areas, Czech hedgehogs and tank trenches. You do not have to clear these for follow-on forces, but you will probably be forced to breach some minefield regardless to keep lines of communication open, your rear safe and create openings in the ENYs defense. So do what you must to push through, bypassing if necessary. But you have significant ENG assets (2 x reinforced ENG PLT), so clear all obstacles that threaten your advance, flanks OR line of communications. Current Situation. The Enemy is on the DEFENSE with slightly inferior numbers, but we have the better equipment, training and to some degree the element of tactical surprise if not Strategic. They have used the time well to entrench themselves thoroughly. We are on their soil, and even though that means the risk of civilians in the AO, then stakes are high. Therefore, you are tasked to avoid civilian casualties to the degree that it does not endanger your command or overall goals. FIRES in the Urban areas are only authorized by TF COMD (Try to avoid it, if the tactical situation allows it) The majority of the ENY forces have consolidated and reinforced to the NORTH of the Boevra River Enemy Forces Strength: ENY Combined Btn(-). Equipment: At least one (1) Company with M1A1 (in PLTs of 4), One (1) Company mixed with Ulans and Centauros (in PLTs of 4). Added to which 2-3 platoons of dismounted infantry including ATGMs and a Recon element likely with BRDM 2s. Finally likely at least 1 PLT of SP MTR and CSS/HQ ENY Artillery expected in SIGNIFICANT volume. Quality: Likely experienced warriors so regulars. And they WILL be expected to fight to the death, because the stakes are as high for them as for us. MDA: ENY in PREPARED DEFENSE in Main Defensive Areas (MDA), constructed defenses, entrenchments, bunkers and major obstacles highly likely (Reference Maptrace), confidence about which is HIGH. Reinforcement: NOT expected from the East, West or South as their lines of communication are cut for now and they have taken substantial losses across the tactical and strategic AO. Confidence HIGH. ENY ENG have been spotted placing what seems to be demolition charges on the bridges over the river Boevra, and are expected to blow them as we push North. Confidence HIGH. Estimated placement of ENY HQ plotted on map (Reference Map Trace), confidence MEDIUM. ENY CoA: Likely will seek to delay and attrit our forces, using the terrain and prepared defenses to disrupt, delay and destroy our forces. Likely will also seek to engage our forces in limited local and small counterattacks or ambushes. And/or channel and lead our forces into killzones where they can use their AT weapons including ATGMs, and use of terrain, to make up for their relative weakness in equipment and training. Majority of ENY units seem to have been pulled North of the River BOEVRA. But expected light and Recon units south of the River Boevra in PLT (+) size. Likely the ENY will blow most if not all bridges over the Rive Boevra, to delay and channel our forces. ENY have access to Artillery in substantial numbers, exact units deployed for this operation unknown. Friendly Forces (FF). Local AIR SUPERIORITY achieved, but ENY Rotary Wing units can not be discounted in the AO. Flanks. FF East and West to SECURE Flanks, but not to Spt Attack apart from the forces that will attack in the AO, under direct control and coordination by BGD CMD. FF WEST will make a supporting attack to tie ENY forces down, and attrit them if possible. TF GUNGNIR: TF in Deployment Area consists of 4 x tank platoons of STRV122, 1 x RECON PLT (PIRANHA V w. OWS LEMUR 2013, PILAR and AVEPS), 2 x PLT ENG (w. 2 x KODIAK, 1 x M113G3 ENG MICLIC, 1 x BIBER bridgelayer and 2 x GTK Boxer ENG) as well as 4 x Mechanized Infantry Platoon´s of CV90/40-B. Plus Command elements. There are also 3 x 3 Biber mobile bridges, meant for the crossing of the River Boevra to the north. Also there have been allocated a two (2) SP MTR PLTs platoons with integral Supply. Finally there is an extra CMD element, so 2 x STRV122 and 2 x CV90/40-B. TF GUNGNIR Dismounted infantry equipped with 2 x Anti-Tank teams (FGM-148 Javelin) (Odds callsigns) and 2 x LMG Teams (Even callsigns). Each MECHINF platoon thus has 2x Anti-Tank teams and 2 x LMG Teams, the rest being issued with AT-4s and rifle grenades plus a medic team, and are all considered Elite. The Recon INF are equipped with JIM-LR and their vehicles with UAV Quadcopters. There are NO reinforcements beyond this. FIRES: 4 x 6 Tubes of 155mm SP howitzers, no FASCAM or SMOKE available, but with ICM. (With the howitzers being further back, so off-map) 2 x 6 x 120 mm SP mortars with their own supply trucks 12 CAS strike missions on call. 1 x MLRS Strike package (NO reloads) (As usual: ALL ARTILLERY IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF CO AND FO: So do NOT touch the ARTY controls if you not one of these two). Also try to avoid using FIRES in Urban areas. LOGISTICS: In TF GUNGNIR: Repair Sect, 1 x Supply, 1 x Fueler and 1 x MED Sect, plus one more PLT same setup minus the fuler PLUS two (2) x 1 ARV section with 1 x ARV and 1 x Repair Sect. 2 x Engr PLT, as there are expected major prepared obstacles in vector of attack. But you may BYPASS ENY obstacles, if prudent and necessary given the tactical environment. Rules of Engagement. As prophesized by the oracle Voelven, then all the signs are here: we stand at the edge of Ragnarok. When Ragnarök come, winter and cold weather will last for three years, with no summer in between the winter seasons. This was known as fimbul-winter “mighty winter”, snowing from all directions. Throughout the world, great battles would be fought; all taboos would be broken, brothers killing one another, and sons would murder their fathers too, mostly out of greed. No kinship would be sacred; adultery and incest would increase exponentially. This period would be known as the age of axes, age of swords, age of wolves and age of winds. The two giant wolves, Skoll will swallow up sun (Sol), while Hati shall devour the moon (Moon or Mani). Stars will fall out of the heaven. The giant worm or dragon Nidhogg that have been gnawing at one of roots of Yggdrasill (Niflheim), would have succeeded in eating away the root that supported Niflheim. Loki, who was confined in a cavern and punished for his involvement with Balder’s death, will escape from his imprisonment, and lead the giants, and his monstrous offspring, to destroy the gods and mankind. Fenrir will escape from his magic binding, while the Midgard Serpent named Jörmungand (Jormungand) will escape from his confinement in the sea. Frost giants and mountain giants will leave their home in Jötunheim, and sailing toward Plain of Vigrid in a ship called Naglfar; while the fire giants led by Surt will leave their fiery home of Muspelheim. Vigrid would be the field of the final battle. Vigrid is an immense plain, a hundred league in every direction. To delay or maybe avoid the end of the world as we know it, then Odin and the other Aesir and Vanir Gods of Asgard have decided to strike first aginst the giants and Jaettir of Jotunheimen, hoping if not to avoid then at least blunt it. We have activated all our Warriors and the Einhejrer of our armies stand ready. The Gods themselves are tied up with other things, including fighting the Fenris Wolf and keeping Hel at bay, so it is up to our warriors to strike this first and important blow. Maybe if we strike hard enough our enemies will reconsider or slow down, thus saving not only us but also the humans of Midgaard who are oblivious to our battle and think what they are experiencing are natural catastrophes and climate changes. The fate of the worlds rest upon your shoulders. We are too few, but the supply of Warriors sadly have dried up as faith in the Old Gods have waned. So we are forced to work with what we have. YOU are part of TF Gungnir (Spear of Odin). And all the eyes of the worlds are upon you, not to mention the hopes of the Gods. I. Situation Time: 0600 Local Time Weather: Clear skies with no chance of rain, 22 degrees Centigrade, wind speed 4 m/s from SW and LOS 3000 Meters General We have attacked the enemy in Jotunheimen, and forced our way across the river that marks the boundary between them and us. We now stand ready to push forward into the lands and do battle with our ancient enemies. The War has been ongoing for milennia, but have now been pushed to a head by other events. Our strategic objective is to ATTACK the ENY to the Northeast with a BGD BG, opening up for a opposed river crossing in the next operation (so next session and Phase II) aimed at and after the crossing, seizing the ENY HQ. The Enemy have fallen back to their strong defenses, and will likely hide behind them and try to inflict as many casualties as they can from there (Reference Map trace). Do NOT push past Phase Line Aesir with your BG under ANY circumstance (Reference Map Trace) ! Once you have reached this phase line, you will halt and CONSOLIDATE and then remain and DEFEND in place. 3. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance Operation Ride of the Valkyries 16´th of October 2020 SB Mission by Nike-Ajax Scenario notes: This is an attempt to emulate if not simulate, a BTN sized MP engagement with limited numbers of players. To keep complexity down and reliability up, then it requires at least one human OPFOR player, as well as a quick and smooth transition from manning A COY to B COY so recommended players retain their positions in the force structure. It requires both an experienced CO and OPFOR. 0. Background Sometimes history does not progress through peace. This at least seems to be the impression of our enemy. Or maybe they just ran out of options. Three months ago a series of coordinated electronic strikes of European infrastructures left much of Europe in chaos. Despite promises to the contrary, then it seems that the governments across Europe did not execute sufficients failsafes and redundancies to maintain security in the electronic battlespace of the 21´st century. At the same time multiple media outlets both old and new, were sent packets of what amounted to a series of scandals ranging from sexual indescretions, over financial misdeeds to outright treason within both governments and the civil servants across Europe. Despite attempts to brush it off as Russian Trolls, then many if not most of the facts turned out to be at least partially verifiable, which in turn caused more chaos as demands for justice began resounding and several Euopean governments are on the brink of toppling as many ministers and civil servants have been forced to resign Reeling from the double hits, Europe was ill-prepared for what turned out to be the next hit, as Russia turned off all supplies of oil, Natural gas and other supplies just as Winter was coming. China in the meantime took up the slack and expanded business with the Russians. Europe thus seemed paralyzed. Finland however started tightening up their border security, including placing concrete barriers along possible attack routes, and also managed to create a defence agreement with Sweden - another neutral nation. Sweden in line with this sent a reinforced Mechanized Battalion, callname Valkyrie, to Finland which was placed on a heightened alert status. A month ago the next hit came as Russian units on a broad front invaded and after a fierce series of battles, in which they caught NATO forces out of place, posture and readiness, and was thus able to seize the Baltic states rapidly, although they took substantial losses. This in turn accelerated Finnish prepararions, made more urgent by Russian troop movements to the East. Russia last week issued an statement, which by many was interpreted as an ultimatum. This in essence stated: Accept the new status of the Russian states geographical and economic position or face worse consequences and allow Russian "freedom of movement". Europe including EU were unable to formulate an unified response, and with NATO being paralyzed by French and Turkish resistance, this in turn meant that no state decided either way. Finland and Sweden being close to the epicenter, however refused. The Russian response came 72 hours later with what seemed to be a full invasion of Finland which included naval landings aimed at the area around Helsiniki, with threats against Swden being made in no unclear terms as well. This in turn forced Sweden to allocate whatever forces they had to the defence of the homeland, and thus unable to reinforce their contingent in Finland. However then this turned out to be Maskirovka or a ruse, because the Russian forces fell back before incurring any significant losses and in fact did not land any troops. Shortly after Russian forces instead struck hard in the North of Finland supported by GRU Spetznas that had previously infiltrated into the area - thus threatening both Sweden and Finland. They were reinforced by a number of means while the Russian forces attacked Swedish and Finnish airbases with both planes and cruise missiles. From there the Russians tried to strike out and broaden what turned out to be an armored thrust across Finland towards Sweden and supported by a number of secondary attacks, leaving most of the Finnish armed forces to fight for their lives, as both the Finnish and Swedish politicians are desperatly trying to get international assistance, while the military are equally desperatly trying to get more units into the AO to contain the Russian attack. However to the joy of the Finns and Swedes and not so much for the Russians, then the Finns have stopped most of the landattacks - for now at least - as they were fully prepared if not for the scale, then at least for the attack. So far no other fronts have been opened, but this seems to be only a matter of time. From intel then we have been informed that the Russians seeking a new avenue of attack, and will strike across the International border to the east of where the Swedish Taskforce is located soon. We have also been informed that Russian ressources are pressed, and that they need a win to bolster the national will to continue the war. And finally that they are pressed with regards to both logistics and operational units in this theater. Confidence of this intel is HIGH. Time therefore has become of the essence: Sweden thus needs to strike a decisive blow to inflict a heavy enough defeat on the Russian forces, to hopefully avert further aggression and stop the Russian offensive and open options for a diplomatic solution. We have lured a sizeable ENY force into a trap of our making to achieve just that: We have leaked intel to the oppposing side that our Regional headquarter is situated at Defence Zone Valhal, and it looks like they have taken the bait and is about to engage us along the anticipated axis of attack. However we might possibly have been too successfull as the Russians seem to have deployed a significant force, and thus outnumber us by a margin of at least 3:1 I. Situation Time: 0630 Local Time Weather: Ligthly clouded with no chance of rain, 15 degrees Centigrade, no wind and LOS 3000 Meters General War have been initiated without a declaration of war from our ENY, although we have since declared war on them. Our strategic objective is to BLOCK the ENY ATTACK into Defence Area VALHAL with A COY, thus DENY it to the enemy and breaking their momentum as well as protecting our HQ to the west. The Enemy is RAPIDLY ADVANCING and will push north and north-west with maximum effort (Refrence Map trace). Do NOT push past Line Of Exploitation (LoE) with A COY under any circumstance (Reference Map Trace). Once the EN ATTACK HALTED, forces in VALHAL (A COY) will CONSOLIDATE and then DEFEND in place to safeguard our HQ. Simultaneous then the forces prepared at Assembly Area MIDGAARD (B COY) and ONLY them, will COUNTERATTACK along the indicated general attack vector from SW towards NE (see map trace) and EXPLOIT IOT DESTROY the EN force & SEIZE (if possible) the EN HQ at OBJ LOKE. Forces at MIDGAARD (B COY) will be released by HQ when the ENY ATTACK has been HALTED, and with a 5 minute Warning. Be careful of the concrete barriers erected by the Finns when crossing the international border (concrete barriers can be destroyed by TNKs) - Engineers have placed demolition charges with which you can destroy barriers at given locations (reference Map trace and activated via trigger), but you are free to breach anywhere with your TNKs. Reinforcements from C COY in the shape of 1 PLT STRV122 and 1 PLT CV90/40-B, stands ready with a 10 minute warning to assist if needed in both the defence and offence. (Activated via trigger by CO) Terrain: Mixture of closed and open, with channeling and blocking terrain including hilly features particularly to the east and becoming more closed and defensible as you push North-east and near the Enemy HQ IVO OBJ LOKE. Fortunately there are fewer villages as you near the ENY HQ. Obstacles: Minefields (Reference Maptrace) to the South-East of Defence Area VALHAL. THIS AREA IS PROHIBITED to all our forces on pain of DEATH. Also the International border to our East, has concrete obstacles all along it except for a small opening to the south and one opening (reference Map trace) to the East. We expect ENY have made several breaches in it as well, just as our engineers preprared several breaching charges before they pulled back. These have been marked on the map, and will be detonated on CO´s orders (Via trigger). Current Situation. The Enemy is on the OFFENCE with superior numbers, but we have the better positions, in general better equipment and to some degree the element of tactical surprise and they have not had the time to entrench. Our Taskforce (TF) VALKYRIE, have been tasked with this mission, allthough fewer than the ENY then we are better equipped and trained. They expect us to defend, but INTEL indicates they do not expect us to counterattack in significant numbers. Confidence is HIGH. We are on our own soil, but most if not all of our civilians in the AO have been evacuated, and yet every round fired lands on our allys land. But the political and military stakes are as high or higher than they have been for our country in centuries. Therefore, you are tasked to win and disregard collateral damage IF it is necessary in order to win the battle . FIRES in the Urban areas are only authorised by TF CO. Enemy Forces Strength: ENY Combined Bn(+). Equipment: At least three (3) full combined and reinforced Companies in the attack, with T72B1, T80 and possibly a number of T90 (INTEL indicates PLT´s formed with 4 vehicles), BMP-2´s and BMP-3´s (in PLTs of 4), BRDM-2 AT´s/BTR-80´s/BTR-82´s and with additional support and recon troops (From INTEL likely BRDM). Likely also a screening forces SV of the Enemy HQ to protect their southern flank, and with the same composition as above, estimated as at least two (2) COY+ strength, and deployed in a defensive posture including ATGM´s. The confidence of this is MEDIUM to high: as there might possibly be a another ENY COY in the AO along with support vehicles. ENY has strong AA assets IVO their HQ at OBJ LOKE, which precludes the use of our air assets to attack this directly. Eny Artillery expected in SIGNIFICANT volume. Quality: Likely at least experienced conscripts with fresh experience from the Baltic campaign and their ammunition the best they can get but do NOT understimate the ENY. However from our experience so far it seems they have a limited number of missiles for the more modern tanks. MDA: ENY only in HASTY DEFENSE in Main Defensive Areas (MDA), no constructed defences, entrenchments and major obstacles identified or likely - aside from the known minefields Southeast of your Defence Area VALHAL, as well as the obstacles along the International border to our East (Reference Maptrace), confidence about which is HIGH. Reinforcement: NOT expected from the East nor South as their lines of communication are cut for now. Confidence HIGH. Expect ENY defence to stiffen IVO the ENY HQ at OBJ LOKE. ENY CoA: Likely will initially continue their attack in the NORTH, but once their attack is broken, likely try to lure our forces into an attritional fight where their numerical advantage, and use of terrain, will make up for their relative weakness in equipment. ENY have access to Artillery in substantial numbers, exact units deployed for this operation unknown. Friendly Forces (FF). Local AIR SUPERIORITY achieved - for now, strong ENY AA defence IVO OBJ LOKE means we are unable to attack this directly with AIR assets. Flanks. FF Northwest and Southwest to SECURE Flanks, but not to Spt Attack apart from the forces mentioned at Assembly Point VALHAL (B COY) and the reserve from C COY. TF VALKYRIE: TF in Defence Area VALHAL (A COY) consists of 3 x tank platoons of STRV 122 as well as 2 x mechanized infantry platoon of CV90/40-B, along with an identical force placed at Assembly Area MIDGAARD (B COY). We have friendly SOF units, in the shape of PLT sized members of Swedish SOG, which is under the direct command of CO BTN and will try to supply tactical intel on the movement of the ENY. Also there have been allocated an infantry PLT reinforced with a PLT of CV90/40-B, protecting the southern flank of Defence Area Valhal. Furthermore we have one PLT of ATGM equipped INF (RBS-56 BILL), assisting in the defence. These will support BUT are under direct command of BTN CO, and will only defend in place. Finally we have reinforcements from C COY, in the shape on 1 PLT STRV122 and 1 PLT CV90/40-B, each of 4 callsigns, which are on 10 minute stand-by alert, and can be called if needed to assist both A COY and B COY. (On trigger with a 10 min delay) A and B Coy Dismounted infantry equipped with Anti-Tank teams (Carl Gustav) and LMG Teams . Each MECHINF platoon in A and B COY thus has 4x Anti-Tank teams and 4 x LMG Teams, the rest being issued with AT-4s and rifle grenades plus a medic team, and are all considered Elite. FIRES; 4 x 6 Tubes of 155mm SP howitzers, no FASCAM available (With the howitzers being further back, so off-map). 1 x 6 x 120 mm SP mortars with their own supply trucks, in A Coy and B COY respectively so total of 2 x batt of SP MTR when B COY is activated. 10 CAS strike missions on call. (As usual: ALL ARTILLERY IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF CO AND FO: So do NOT touch the ARTY controls if you not one of these two). LOGISTICS: In both A COY and B COY: Repair Sect, 2 x Supply and 1 x MED Sect. NO Engr, as there are expected no major obstacles in vector of attack aside from what has already been described. So BYPASS any ENY obstacles encountered. Rules of Engagement. NOTHING IN THESE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT LIMITS YOUR RIGHT TO TAKE APPROPIATE ACTION TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR UNIT. A. You have the right to use force to proactively engage any and all ENY targets of opportunity. B. You are cleared to fire first on all hostile targets or targets with deemed hostile intent, including armed civilians. C. The force should be used under the circumstances and proportional to the threat. D. We are at war. Destruction of civilian property has been cleared by the local authorities if CO deems that there is a CLEAR military value and goal in said destruction, including FIRES in urban areas. E. All Laws of War are to be observed. II. Mission: TF VALKYRIE is to BLOCK ENY attack towards Defence Area VALHAL with A COY plus reinforcements from C COY if needed. Then on orders ATTACK and CONDUCT EXPLOITATION with B COY (and ONLY B COY, plus reinforcements from C COY if needed), DESTROYING the ENY between PL THOR and PL ODIN, SEIZE ENY HQ ivo OBJ LOKE, IOT DENY the area to the ENY and disrupt their future operations. III. Execution Concept of the Operation: Taskforce VALKYRIEs A COY BLOCKS the ENY IVO Defence Area VALHAL. Then TF VALHALSs B COY, ATTACK from SOUTHWEST to NORTHEAST; conducting an attack by fire from PL THOR towards PL ODIN (See Map trace), and then ASSAULT to SEIZE ENY HQ at OBJ LOKE. Once SECURE, PREPARE HASTY Defence to HOLD Objective until relieved. This will DENY the area to the ENY and PREVENT further ENY offensive operations, achieving our immediate military and political goal. Reinforcements from C COY can assist both, when and if needed by CO´s judgement. Commanders Intent Purpose - The purpose of this operation is to DESTROY the ENY forces in the AO, then OCCUPY, thus weakening the Enemys will to fight and persuading them not to conduct further offensive actions. Key Tasks: 1. DEFEND Defence Area VALHAL, BLOCKING the ENY attack using A COY. 2. Attack from PL THOR towards PL ODIN to DESTROY the ENY using only B COY. 2. Seize ENY HQ at OBJ LOKE. 3. 6. KANIUM SUNDAY 11th of August 1800 GMT - OP BOLONGO by SnS Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 World Clock 1800 GMT (Same time as always - now adjusted for European Summer Time: click the time below for your local time) World clock 1800 GMT IMPORTANT NOTICE: This SB session may be recorded with video and sound and uploaded, including to a public youtube channel. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance And in more detail: PRELIM Aim. The idea behind this mission is to practice mission focus and not to be distracted. The OPFOR is based on mixture of Ethiopian Rebel Forces with some Russian Forces (RF) acting as "Advisors". The Scenario is designed to challenge decision--making, not only the CO, but the Sect/Tp Commanders as well as the individual crews. Recommendations. In constructing your plan the following should be considered: a. There is really no intelligence worth anything on the current situation - act accordingly. b. The RF "Advisors" represent a small sized force - no idea on numbers or equipment. c. Remember the 2 minute rule on Direct Fire! d. ROE is a key constraint - we do not know who is a friend and who is a rebel within the Government Force so only fire in selfdefence. If you fire on a CIV or Gov Militia that is loyal that will trigger unintended consequences elsewhere. 1) SITUATION: a. General Situation: You are a mixed DK/SWE Training force (TF JONAS) for the African Union and UN that now finds itself in the middle of a military coup in KATANGA West Africa. You are located in KATI to the East of the country. The whole region to your West is in chaos with reports of inter-government fighting, roving militias on all sides of the ethnic divides raping and killing as they go from village to town destroying government infrastructure. Swedish Oil workers were reported to be held up in the TEXECO Oil facility, but last reports on their current location suggests the group may have spit and at least three of the party are unlocated, possibly at TONKA or GOV RESIDENCE. In addition, there is a small UN force trapped in their camp in the west by what the UN claims to be a large Rebel Armoured force. We have previous INTEL that there was a Armoured Unit near that location conducting training with the Russian "Advisors" The situation is serious and deteriorating rapidly. While the political dialogue in the UN begins, DK & SWE have ordered you to go and find the oil workers and return them to the safety of KATI. In addition both governments have agreed that you will investigate the presence of Rebel Forces in the West, report their strength and if necessary prevent their movement east towards KATI. b. En Forces: Unknown number of Government forces and rebel civilian militias. Probably with some T-55/62 and BMP variants. NOT all Government military forces and Civilian militias are hostile to the Government, UN or the TF. The safe zone ends once the southern bridge on Hy 53 at KATI is crossed. The use of IEDs by militia forces has been reported as has the use of AT/AP mines. Local sources also indicate the Rebel Forces have MANPADS. c. Friendly Forces: TF JONAS (1 x Recce Plt (4 x MB 300G ( 1 x Sect M2HB Reflex Sight ,1 x Sect SPIKE MR/LR), 3 x Armd Plt (6 x STRV 122, 4 x LEO 2A5A2-DK) ) 1 x Mech Plt (4 x DK MRAP OHWS M2HB,leased for the operation manned by Kalmar Regt). The MECH Plt comprises: 3 x MG3 Sect, 1 x SPIKE MR/LR Sect, 5 x Rifle Sect each soldier equipped with 3 x M2 CG HEDP 502/rifle grenades/smoke. Log Plt (Amb/Recovery/Repair/Supply). 3 x Ural 4320 Trucks are available for transporting the Swedish Oil Workers. d. Taskorg/Atts and Dets: 1 x 120mm Mor Bty (4 x Tubes & Supply), 1 x FOO, 1 x BLACKHAWK may be released bu US Training Forces - TBC. e. RESERVE. B Coy will become TACOM when available from their task at Village 17. 2) MISSION: TF JONAS is to FIND and RETURN safely as a priority, SWE oil workers and other Scandinavian citizens unable to return to FARP ANGEL within the safe area IVO KATI. The TF is then to SECURE the UN CAMP BAGUINEDA and PROTECT the UN Force located at the camp, while conducting an assessment as to the THREAT posed by the Rebel military and Militia forces. BPT to PROTECT civilian life and DEFEAT any Rebel force IF it shows HOSTILE intent and LIFE is threatened. NO Civilian forces are to be engaged throughout, but force may be used in selfdefence under Card 65a. Key tasks: 1. FIND the SWE Oil workers and return them to FARP ANGEL in KATI; 2. SECURE UN CAMP BAGUINEDA, PROTECT the UN Force; 3. IDENTIFY the REBEL force strength, Dispositions and operational status; 4. BPT DEFEAT Rebel Force or Militia if engaged or if threatening civilian life; 5. DO NOT ENGAGE ANY KATANGAN civilian accept in SELF- DEFENCE (ROE 65A in force). Endstate: 1. SWE workers returned safely and uninjured to KATI; 2. UN Force PROTECRTED in Camp; 3. Rebel Force & Militia locations and strength identified. 3. TF fit for further operations. 4. No civilian casualties attributed to TF engagements. 3) EXECUTION: UP TO YOU go and make your plan and back-brief in 30 mins 4) COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS: a. Movement timings. (i) No move before 06:00Z; (ii) URAL 435 Trucks for Scandinavian citizens; (iii) C1 (Blackhawk) could be available if released by US Training Force in KATANGA capital. b. OOM:. Team CO orders. c. H Hr. 06:00Z hrs. d. ROE. UN Chapter 7 in force - Card 65a - lethal force may be used in selfdefence if all other options have been used including warning shots. The killing of civilian forces loyal to the government may cause other civilians to turn on the government and attack your force. If you are to disengage with any such contacts without using lethal forces unless in fear of loss of life. Russian Forces are inside the AO. They are NOT to be engaged UNLESS you are fired on first. e. Recce policy. No detailed Recce/INTEL available. f. Recovery. Damaged vehicles are to be recovered to KATI. h. Routes of Advance. In accordance with CO orders. i. Fires. All call for FIRES through A66. FIRES will not be under any circumstances authorised in built up areas of towns and villages. 5. SERVICE SUPPORT a. TFAA established FARP ANGEL – area for Repair/Recovery. b. Ammunition supply Requests through XO A65. Supply limited ammo expenditure to be monitored and reported when AMBER state reached. c. Med: Ambulance Role 1 located with XO A65. 6. COMMAND AND SIGNAL a. Signal: All cross-platoon communications will be conducted on the TFHQ Net, 26000 to enable maximum situational awareness for the TF.
  7. KANIUM SUNDAY 9th of June 1800 GMT - Strife in Verona by Nike-Ajax (thanks to SNS for orders input) Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 World Clock 1800 GMT (Same time as always - now adjusted for European Summer Time: click the time below for your local time) World clock 1800 GMT IMPORTANT NOTICE: This SB session may be recorded with video and sound and uploaded, including to a public youtube channel. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance Operation Strife in Verona 27´th of July 2020 SB Mission by Nike-Ajax 0. Background Two Countries, both alike in dignity, In between fair Verona, where we conduct our operation, have held ancient grudges which have now broken out into actual war. A civil war have been brewing, caused by the aspirations and ambitions of the two foes: the Country of Capulet and the Country of Montague. These tensions that were held back by the international community, have strangely been let loose by a love affair between a pair of star-cross'd lovers. Specifically between the daughter of the Prime Minister of Capulet, Julie and the son of the President of Montague, Romeo. Allthough seemingly harmless, their affair have put the strife and disagreements around the area of Verona which both countries wants to be a part of their country, to the fore. Not only is Verona of strategic and symbolic value, but a new major pipeline is planned to be build through it which will bring wealth and power to whomever controls it. It is said by some that only the young lovers deaths can bury their parents and countries strife. Allthough their story could probably be made into a movie or possibly a play, then it is not just the rage and indignation of their parents and respective parliaments that have led us to the operation which will unfold today. So it would seem that even though its a tragedy for the young lovers, then the greater tragedy is that the two countries will be at war in hours. The international community have tried with talks and threats, but to no avail as UN proves to be not a match for the job once more. We as the part of the armed forces of Capulet, are tasked with taking control of the area of Verona once and for all, suffering the guns and artillery of outrageous fortune. But by opposing, ending it. I. Situation Time: 0700 Local Time Weather: Ligthly clouded with no chance of rain, 25 degrees Centigrade and LOS 4400 Meters General War have been declared and both sides have claimed Casus Belli. Our strategic objective is to SECURE and OCCUPY the area of Verona, thus denying it to the foul Montagues. The Montagues have thrust a limited distance into Verona territory, then taken up HASTY DEFENSE likely having lost momentum and initiative. It is likely they are expecting a COUNTER ATTACK. Terrain: Dangerous mixture of closed and open, with channeling and blocking terrain features particularly to the north with a combination of a small river and extensive marsh and swamps. Friendly Air have DESTROYED all the bridges to the East from where the Montagues attacked, thus - at least temporarily - they will be forced to reinforce by taking a detour and coming into their DEFENSIVE AREAS from the South. Obstacles: Verona population has put a strong belt of minefields (Reference Maptrace) to their South-west, to discourage the exact situation that is happening now. This minefield has now been reinforced by the Montagues. THIS AREA IS PROHIBITED to all our forces on pain of DEATH. To be or not to be in control of the city of Verona (OBJ VERONA - Reference Maptrace), is the question, as the ones who control the city will also control the area of Verona. Current Situation. Sadly the treacherous people of Montague moved first, and struck like a dagger in the night. This means that they have occupied the better positions with superior numbers, however they have not had time to entrench. Our Taskforce (TF) STRIKESPEAR, as part of the primary Capulet Army Battlegroup, have been tasked with this mission. You will be outnumbered but not outfought - remember: A man can die but once and Nothing will come from nothing. We are on Verona soil, and must thus expect a fair number of civilians in the AO - and the international community is watching. But the political and military stakes are high. Therefore, you are tasked to avoid civilian casualties to the degree that it does not endanger your command or overall goals. FIRES in the Urban areas are only authorised by TF COMD. So Cry “havoc!” and let slip the dogs of war Enemy Forces Strength: ENY Combined Bn(+). Equipment: At least three (3) full combined and reinforced Companies with M60A3 (in PLTs of 5), Marder 1A3 (in PLTs of 3), M113G3 TOWs and with additional support and recon troops (From INTEL likely VEC-M1). Likely also screening forces around OBJ VERONA as well as the possible presence of ENY ATGM, which can include TOW launchers, confidence about last LOW to MEDIUM. Quality: Likely experienced conscripts and their ammunition the best they can get for their older platforms. MDA: ENY only in HASTY DEFENSE in Main Defensive Areas (MDA), no constructed defences, entrenchments and major obstacles identified or likely - aside from the known minefields in the South of your AO (Reference Maptrace), confidence about which is HIGH. Reinforcement: NOT expected from the East nor South as their lines of communication are cut for now. Confidence HIGH. ENY CoA: Likely will not continue their attack, but rather try to lure our forces into an attritional fight where their numerical advantage, and use of terrain, will make up for their weakness in equipment. ENY have access to Artillery in substantial numbers, exact units deployed for this operation unknown. Friendly Forces (FF). Local AIR SUPERIORITY achieved. Flanks. FF North and South to SECURE Flanks, but not to Spt Attack. TF Strikespear: TF consists of 3 x tank platoons of STRV122 as well as 2 x mechanized infantry platoon of CV90/40-B, along with a tactical reserve of 1 PLT of STRV122 and a 1 PLT of CV90/40-B. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance Operation Hammerblow 08 AUG 2020 Story: Follow-up to OP Sledgehammer SB Mission by Nike-Ajax, briefing adapted from Apocalypse Background Peace creating forces from the Coalition have subdued the Island of Kavgos, with very few casualties on the side of the Peace Creating Forces. It was hoped that this would be enough to create stability and allow the coalition to withdraw without further bloodshed. This naturally were a political illusion, much in the way of many of the previous peace keeping and peace creating efforts of the 20th and 21st century, both in and outside of UN resolutions. In fact while very successful, then in this case it did not create the political change that happened after Argentina soundly lost the Falklands war. The politicians somehow forgot that Turkey was economically and politically much stronger. And that Turkey in fact was backed by Russia among others. And also that their armed forces of the Peace Creating Coalition were stretched beyond thin, after years of neglect and cost savings. And above all that they did not project the political Iron will, resolve and strength, that Margaret Thatcher did. Thus the Turkish and Russian analysis was that this was a feeble swing in the air, made by a mostly impotent and weak giant, a one-off where they got lucky. Despite the tragic and sizeable losses, then from a cynical and practical standpoint the Turkish losses were limited. In following that chain of thought the Turkish and Russian came to the conclusion that the best way of tackling and challenging the weak political leadership of the west, was to go on the offensive. Specifically then Turkey have brought up their readiness across the board. And more importantly invaded another and much bigger Island in the Aegean as a direct challenge to the coalition. NATO, EU and the UN for whatever worth the latter is, have tried desperately to contain and deescalate the situation without any real progress. And yet the parties were close to at least meet in the same room - that is until SAS flight SK 3179 was shot down in the Aegean. It is hard to find out why or exactly how it happened, but what is know is that it was shot down by Turkish and possibly Russian manned Surface-to-air missiles. The airplane had tried to use a flight route that took it outside the contested areas, but the fact is that European airways are congested, so it was at its outer limit of the flightpath. The turkish government claims that it had "the characteristics and vector" of a hostile plane, which international experts have contested. In a most unlucky turn of events, then the plane held passengers of all the nationalities that were involved in the actions in the Aegean. This has helped stiffen the resolve of the politicians in the coalition countries. Mostly because rather large numbers of their voters are screaming for retribution. In a political wording then "while we keep all options on the table, then the environment and context makes a political settlement in the present climate very challenging". So while the politicians still try to talk, the military is getting ready to act. It is the hope that freeing this island and inflicting another heavy blow, will force Turkey and by extension Russia to the conference table for a peaceful solution to the overall conflict. In the meantime the Turkish Land Forces have expelled all the Greek inhabitants of the Island, which simplifies our military mission, while it makes the political solution even harder. I. Situation Time 0530 Local Time Weather Clear Skies with no chance of rain, 29 degrees Centigrade and LOS 4 Km General. The remnants of Taskforce Saber have been reintegrated and replenished and partially joined with another group to create the Swedish COY GP Broadsword. The Peace Creation Coalition have landed several combined combat teams with tanks and infantry, supported by UAVs, and direct-support artillery, including COY GP Broadswoard. Meanwhile, other units are offshore with 6th Fleet, preparing for additional landings in other parts of the island against the Turkish Land Forces elsewhere on the island. We have local air superiority, but having lost a helicopter from direct fire in the last operation, are limited to strike planes. Enemy Forces. Turkish Land Forces have roughly a Battalion (-) of combat power defending the area, with at least two tank companies (Leopard 2A4) and one company of mixed mechanized and motorized infantry (Turkish IFV´s are represented with Ulans and Turkish Recon vehicles with VEC-M1´s). These are augmented with dismounted ENY infantry, that are expected to have access to MILANs that are locally produced under licence by ROCKETSAN and M72A4´s that are produced under licence by MKEK, as well as BGM-71 TOWs. As the ENY have had little time to prepare, then we do not expect major Obstacles or minefields, but confidence about that is medium to low. However given the previous encounter then we do expect them to be entrenched and in a combat stance. From SIGINT we know that the ENY have access to Artillery in substantial but unknow amounts. Friendly Forces. We have US and Italian forces to our EAST and WEST that will push forward and support our attack. So do NOT cross the COY GP boundaries reference Map trace, to avoid risk of Friendly Fire - this includes the UAV. Our COY GP consists of 4x tank platoons as well as 2x mechanized infantry platoon, along with a PLT of Centauros in tactical reserve. This consists of a Swedish Company of 2 x PLT of STRV 122 and 2 PLT of CV9040-B, reinforced by 2 x PLT STRV 122 from another COY. Added to this is an Italian reserve of 1 PLT Centauros. We have also been augmented with a UAV from Golf Company, 3 x 6 tubes of 155mm howitzers and 6 x 120 mm mortars from Fox Company with its own supply truck (with the howitzers being further back, so off-map), as well as support assets from Hotel Company (repair/rearm, and medical). As always open to all Intermission: Background: 1.Situation. a.Time: 170400ZOCT18 b.Terrain: Wooded and patchy boggy terrain channel Armd manoeuver and provide concealed AT ambush sites. Heavily forested areas in west and north of AO provide effective concealment, and will reduce overall rate of march, and can reduce observation and fields of fire to approximately 200 meters. Areas lacking heavy forestation provide good movement rates & observation and fields of fire from 2-3 KM. E28/A7 major LOC however good routes north-south and east-west. Major towns east & centre of AO represent significant choke points. c.Weather: Clear night sky – good visibility. No impact on sensor capabilities. d.Vital Ground. Bridge crossing points along border (EA CLOUD & NAI J4). River banks are too steep for BMP/BTR to exit water. e.Key Terrain. Area 112 & 113 provide good SBF positions to engage EN forces moving east along AA1. BP JENNY & PENELOE offer suitable defensive positions from which to enforce maximum DELAY. f.General Situation. On the 15´th early in the evening, JEF Recce units were engaged along the Border with Lithuania, suffered severe casualties and were forced to withdraw into MOB TRUMPET to reconstitute. After the initial engagement, Russian Light Forces quickly advanced and secured the Border crossing points, but have since remained only 3 km inside Lithuanian territory. NATO has NOT yet declared Article V, despite political increasing political unrest in Europe and confirmatory intelligence of Russian aggression. g.Current Situation Enemy Forces: Strategic intelligence indicates Russian forces are rapidly moving east into Lithuania and will soon cross the border at CHERNYSHEVSKOYE/KYBARTAI, 14 km to our west. They are moving slowly in our direction along A7 (AA1), in order to seize VILKAVISKIS and MARIJAMPOLÈ, opening up for follow-on forces and to threaten supply routes at Kaunas. Likely objectives are: a.Immediate Bde Objective: SECURE VILKAVISKIS along A7 axis IOT continue the advance with 2 Echelon towards MARIJAMPOLÈ, b.Subsequent Bde Objective: SECURE MARIJAMPOLÈ and thereby secure control of A7 and E67, enabling turn north towards KAUNAS. c.Immediate Bn Task Group (BTG) Objective: DEFEAT NATO forces west of PAEZERIAI IOT enable FoF to SECURE VILKAVISKIS. d.Subsequent BTG Objective: SEIZE LOC south of VILKAVISKIS IOT prevent reinforcement/resupply of defending NATO forces. h.Situation Enemy Forces: 2.Composition: Attacking Russian force likely 7th separate Guards mechanized infantry Regiment and 79th separate Guards mechanized infantry brigade, and consist initially of Mechanised BTG reinforced with MBT as well as possible insurgents with Russian SOF support. (BMP-2/3, BTR-80, T-80 or T-90 and BDRM-2). 3.Disposition. Russian forces likely to be cautious on initial Adv, but once engaged will likely transition to an aggressive posture, attempting to rapidly DETROY NATO forces and try to take VILKAVISKIS quickly, before Lithuanian National Defence Volunteers Division and other forces can fortify the city. 4.It's likely Russian backed Insurgents and SOF will attempt to create confusion in our REAR to support the attack. 5.The ENY BDE Arty Gp (BAG) has already moved forward in preparation of offensive actions. 6.The overall Russian Forces readiness at Bde level and higher to conduct offensive operations is unclear. However, planning has bene extensive. Due to NATO obstacles, it seems like that main Russian axis of attack will be south of the lake, directly towards TF-32. i.Situation Friendly Forces. 1.The NAC is meeting now. Lithuania has ordered it s forces to engage any Russian military on Lithuanian territory (Land, Sea or Air). NATO forces are rapidly deploying a heavy armoured forces with support to area east of VILKAVISKIS into the JEF MDA (OBJ VIKING). The Russian A2AD threat is preventing NATO air forces from patrolling the border area, thus, NATO does NOT have air SUPERIORITY or even air PARITY. Article V has NOT YET been declared. However, all JEF units are clear to engage Russian forces IF hostile intent is demonstrated. Hostile intent is defined as Russian forces firing or are preparing to fire on NATO or Lithuanian forces or threatening them in a manner that is objectively considered to be a threat to life. 2.Currently, elements of the Nordic Battlegroup and Danish Division are moving into defensive positions south of the TF-32 AO and a Combined Ad Hoc Battlegroup of Baltic States (in addition to TF-48, TF-18) is defending Route185. Both are expected to hold in the short term. TF-66 is conducting counter SoF ops. i.Rules of Engagement. NOTHING IN THESE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT LIMITS YOUR RIGHT TO TAKE APPROPIATE ACTION TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR UNIT. 1.You have the right to use force if you feel that you or other NATO & Lithuanian Forces or civilians are under threat to life. 2. The force used under the circumstances should be proportional to the 3. Uncalled for destruction of civilian property will not be accepted. 4. The Third Scenario in "The Bears Gambit" Campaign - Operation Solemn Shield
  16. BG1 TF-32 OPERATION RED ROUTE 1.pdf KANIUM SUNDAY 21st OF JAN 1900 UTC “The Bears Gambit 1 - Operation Red Route 1 ” BY Nike-Ajax and SnS Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 World Clock 1900 UTC IMPORTANT POINT: If you havent played with us before, or if it is a while ago, then please contact either @Major duck or @Swordsmandk to help you set up your Teamspeak before the day of the session - thank you. As always open to all Prologue: Background: 1.Situation. a.Time: 171100ZSEP2018, Local time: 1300 b.Terrain: Wooded and patchy boggy terrain channel Armd manoeuver and provide concealed AT ambush sites. Major water obstacles pre-dominate the area. Heavily forested areas provide effective concealment. A number of small villages are scattered throughout; the populations are most sympathetic to the Government, however, where the population is ethnic Russian, sympathies lie with that Government. Major LOC limited to single routes north-south and east-west – see map. Main City Šalčininkai, centre of Lithuanian Governance and security force base. c.Weather: Sunny with little chance of rain , 15 degrees Celsius. Visibility good out to 4km. No impact on sensor capabilities. Sunrise/Sunset: 06:54/19:30 local time. d.Vital Ground. Route BLUE – coordination points between R13-R15 & R14-R16 & Area FOX2. Control of these areas provide good opportunity to mount ambush attacks against the convoy.. e.Key Terrain. Villages at R19 & R22 must be SECURED to enable Convoy use of Route BLUE. f.Situation Enemy Forces. 1.Russian backed insurgents, supported by Russian Special Operations Forces (SoF) are operating in up to Company size formations within TF-32 AO, particularly between Marijampolis south to Šalčininkai (see Ops Trace); strength undetermined. They have succeeded in creating a chaotic environment and the rule of Law is disintegrating fast, overburdening the challenged Lithuanian security forces. Fox 1 & 2 are villages known to be sympathetic towards the Insurgents aims. The Insurgents appear to be well stocked with light infantry weapons including RPG´s and have also used IED´s to attack convoys and government patrols. It is likely they also possess ATGM of Russian manufacture, type and number unknown. Insurgent spotters likely to be used as identification of TF-32 Route of Advance and progress. g.Situation Friendly Forces. 1.Lithuania has requested support through its bilateral arrangements with Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway. TF-32, part of the UK Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) has been deployed early under the bilateral arrangements. Russian Influence and support is suspected behind the deteriorating security situation and should actionable evidence be found of Russian overt involvement, it is likely Article V could be called by Lithuania and agreed by the NAC. Should this occur, TF-32 will fall under command of COM JEF. Lithuanian authorities have tried to clear Route BLUE, and declared this is the route they want the Convoy to take. 2.Rules of Engagement. 1.NOTHING IN ROE LIMITS YOUR RIGHT TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR UNIT. 2.You have the right to use force to defend yourself against attacks or clear threats of attack. 3.Hostile fire may be returned effectively and promptly to stop a hostile act. 4.If OWN forces or those under their protection are attacked, then minimum force should be used under the circumstances and proportional to the threat. 5.We are not at war and in an allied nation, uncalled for destruction of civilian property will not be accepted. 2. The First Scenario in "The Bears Gambit" Campaign
  18. Kanium Sunday 17th of Sep 1800 UTC "Operation Gauntlet" by Swordsmandk Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 World Clock 1800 UTC Everybody is velcome , though we recommend that new players contact Major Duck, Swordsmandk to get an intro to our use of TS and get setup and get a small get familiar session sometime before the scen as it can be a very very steep learning curve to play multiplayer compared to single player. Its our experience that most new players hang around much longer with that approach and most learn something new that way. We have no requirement for participants to be a member of our VU(Virtual Unit) and you can be a member of other VU's and still play with us or to participate on any number of games etc..., we have a rule that says that your only velcome when you want to play and remember family is more important then the game. 1) SITUATION: a) Enemy: ENY attack in direction of the BERG RAILYARD has been slowed and ENY losses are high. We estimate ENY will attempt a flaking move south along R375 to turn our flank. An ENY mixed BTN of T80, BMP2, Hinds and possible older equipment has been sigthed heading along that road. ENY will be supported by heavy artillery and electronic warfare units with jamming equipment. b) Own: Most of our defence have been focused on holding Berg Railyard. To the south along R375 we have TNK COY (-) with mech support to delay ENY advance towards MORSHYTTAN and the ROAD JUNCTION just north of it. We have more reinforcements comming in from the south but they will have to pass through the junction and MORSHYTTAN to be able to support our defence in the area. We have been unable to reach higher command due to HEAVY radio jamming, so essentially it is up to you as COY CO to delay ENY advance on MORSHYTTAN for at least 1,5-2 hours. Delay ENY advance while keeping casulties low. c) Attachments and detachments: - 2 x TNK PLTS STRV 122 + 2x CO/XO TNK (Reserve PLT can be called in from MORSHYTTAN only if 50% tnk Casualties have occured) - 1 x MECH PLT CV9040B with NLAWs and GUSTAVS - 1x RECON PLT CV9040B with GUSTAVS - 1x CSS PLT - 2x OFF MAP BTY 155 - 1x UAV - Engineer assets for pre planned obstacles + 1 PLT ENG with M136 AT + 1 Biber 2) MISSION: 1) Delay ENY advance on MORSHYTTAN and ROAD JUNCTION for at least 1H30M - 2H 2) Minimize Casualties and conduct mobile warfare when possible 3) Protect UAV (Keep it at range from ENY since its the only one you have) ROE: 1) Only recon units is allowed to deploy north of 48 2) NO artillery strikes north of FLOT is allowed 3) Game will end if either CO or GM ends it due to losses or capture of objective 3) EXECUTION: [Finally: The player's mission] SIGNAL: COY: 26000 A1 PLT: 46000 A2 PLT: 31000 A3 PLT: 33500 Note: This will be a multi crewing scen so find a partner to dance with
