General
The T-62 is the successor to the T-55, and entered service in 1961. Principal differences include a larger 115mm gun, along with a redesigned turret, longer hull, and an automatic spent brass ejection mechanism. The T-62 has a conventional crew layout with four crewmembers: driver, loader, commander, and gunner. The gunner and commander sit on the left side of the turret, and the loader on the right. Like the T-55, the ammunition layout is fairly archaic, with a few ready rounds in the turret, and the majority of rounds stored in the hull. This leads to an initial high rate of fire, which rapidly diminishes after the first 3-4 rounds; after this, rounds need to be loaded from the hull.
Fire Control System
The T-62 uses a stadimetric rangefinder. Choosing the correct column by ammunition type, align the range line with the estimated range. Range can be estimated with the stadia lines in the lower right of the sight. This is based on a nominal 2.7m vehicle height.
