General
Based on a stretched MT-LB chassis, the 2S1 (Rus: 2C1 "Carnation") is a fully amphibious 122mm self-propelled howitzer developed by the former Soviet Union and entered service in the early 1970s. It is in common usage by nearly all former Russo/Soviet client states along with numerous second and third world militaries. The turret mounted 122mm 2A18 howitzer is based on the D-30 towed howitzer and fires HE, HE/RAP, HEAT (direct fire), flechette, leaflet, and various chemical rounds. Beginning with Steel Beasts Pro PE version 3.002 the 2S1 is fully functional as an indirect-fire artillery piece capable of firing HE and smoke missions, along with limited direct-fire self-defense capability.
